Bilingual II (Level 12):
This class meets: Monday-Thursday from 9:00am-1:30pm or Monday-Tuesday from 9:00am-6:30pm
8 week session.
A student in this level will continue the objectives from level 11 but use different topics. This course is for students who have a fluent grasp of grammar tenses, vocabulary, and have read a variety of works. In this course, students will expand their academic vocabulary and communication skills, as well as write longer and more developed essays with strong supporting points. The students will read classic American short stories and analyze them for main ideas, tone, voice, and character understanding. They will develop effective reading strategies and enhance their understanding of how academic texts are written. They will gain more specialized language to talk about niche topics such as population change, design, and engineering. They will deliver an extensive PowerPoint (or other multi-media) presentation towards the end of the session.
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Level 1-11 or receive a passing score on the IEP Level 11 test
