Bilingual I (Level 11):
This class meets: Monday-Thursday from 9:00am-1:30pm or Monday-Tuesday from 9:00am-6:30pm
8 week session.
This course is for students who have a fluent grasp of grammar tenses, vocabulary, and have read a variety of works. In this course, students focus on greater academic vocabulary development, as well as writing longer and more developed essays with strong supporting points. The students will read classic American short stories and analyze them for main ideas as well as tone, voice, and character development. They develop effective reading strategies and form an understanding of how academic texts are written. They will be able to write a short story after reading various short stories and revise their classmates’ stories as well as give feedback. They will gain more specialized and fluent language to talk about niche topics. They will give an extensive PowerPoint (or other multi-media) presentation towards the end of the session.
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Level 1-10 or receive a passing score on the IEP Level 10 test
